Prologue: The Angelos

It was the time before time began for humans. The entities that existed were high spiritual beings, known as the Angelos among themselves. Love was the unspoken universal language. The love of the angel order called Angelos surpassed the love of humans exceedingly.

There was a problem. One of the highest Angelos was a beautiful, gifted spirit called Lucifer. He led the choirs and symphonies of paradise. Yet one-day his heart hardened with evil, and he fell like lightening from heaven. When he led a revolt against the divine one, God banished him from His presence. With Lucifer’s determination to overthrow God, the war between good and evil began.

At that time, all people knew God as El. They honored Him to the best of their ability, because it was obvious that someone had created the flowers and trees. Someone had created them.

There was one Angelos known as Sammael. His name was important.

“Sam” meant that he was poison; “El” meant he served God. He represented both evil and good. He was the Chief ruler of the Fifth Heaven, and the angel of death.

Millennia went by and humans appeared on the earth, created by God. The Angelos were curious and jealous. Sammael was among the curious ones who maintained his vitality, inspiration, and enthusiasm by reaching out to humans.

Casting a spell over the people of Babylon, he established himself as Prince Sammael, Prince of Babylon. He then told his subjects that he was going in search of a bride. “Babylon needs a lovely princess,” he said.

He journeyed over land and sea. He traveled over hills and skies, carefully searching for the right maiden. His desire was to appear before humankind as one associated with fertility and sexuality. So he journeyed to earth.

That was when he saw Princes Rachael, daughter of Queen Kenana and King Asher, the rulers of Mesopotamia. She was sleeping on a bed of gold covered with scarlet velvet, inside her room in the splendid palace. He approached her open window, and sat on the ledge. As a magician would do, he put her under his magic spell to cause her to fall madly in love with him, instantly.

While she slept, he streaked her eyelids with the juice of a flower petal. This created a sense in Rachael’s heart of being under his control. She awakened, she saw the brilliant creature, and asked, “What angel wakes me from my flowery bed?”

“It is I Sammael,” he said, stroking her face. “I declare to you my love.”

“I receive it,” Rachael said, mesmerized by his spell, gazing into his blinding splendor.

“Then come dear Rachael to Babylon and be my princes,” he said.

“When?”

“Now.”

“How can I do that,” she asked. “There is no way I can just walk out of here with you. Bodyguards guard me day and night. Their job is to keep me safe, and at home.”

“Ask your bodyguards to take you shopping in Babylon,” Sammael said. “I will cast a spell on them and they will obey you and do whatever you ask.”

“I am not allowed to leave until my prince comes for me.”

“Your prince has come. Just ask your guards to bring you to Babylon now. Tell them you want to go shopping for new clothes, and I will do the rest. Your guards will do whatever you tell them.”

“Will you marry me if I come? I do not want to be your mistress.” Her face radiated with adoration.

When Sammael saw the sparks of delight in Rachael’s eyes, he knew that he had awakened her passions to love him. “Yes, my love, I will marry you as soon as your guards take you to Babylon.”
